It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her bow and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was out the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
